... That went well!
According to the stats, (and number of cake pops consumed by happy brides-to-be) there were 900 brides that came to the show, and what a lovely crowd they were.
Congratulations to Lauren, a new customer, who instantly won £100 off the price of her wedding cake, just by booking her wedding cake with us on the day of the show.
Photos of the wedding show to follow, but for now, it's back to work!

Surrounded by Chocolate Hearts!!!!

At this precise moment I'm surrounded by all things heart shaped, glittery and chocolatey!! Yep, Valentine's Day is nearly upon us and its the time of the year that cupid hits our shop and turns everything heart shaped! We've got all sorts of gorgeous gifts starting from our luscious love-pops (special Valentine Cake Pops with a secret aphrodisiac!) starting from £2 up to luxurious boxes of handmade truffles for £15 and everything in between. We also have CHOCOLATE VALENTINE CARDS (I promise to post some pics on here tomorrow morning - we've just got a new camera and being the technophobe I am can't quite get it to be friends with my macbook but bear with me!!). We've been secretly making chocolate Valentine cards for a few weeks now to a select few of our most loved customers but we revealed them to the world in our shop window yesterday and we can't make them quick enough!! So, if you want to treat someone with some of our delicious delights you'd better be quick as the heart moulds and red cocoa butter will be going back in the cupboard for another year very soon!
On another subject we will be exhibiting at the I Do wedding show at Elland Road, Leeds on Sunday from 10am to 5pm. Please pop in and see us - we have a fabulous new project to unveil as well as this season's new designs (which were revealed at Tatton Park show a couple of weeks ago). We also have a fabulous treat for anyone booking with us on Sunday, we'll give you a clue - to quote Forrest Gump, "Life is like a box of chocolates - you never know what you're gonna get"....... Intrigued?? Come and find out. See you there (if we don't get buried under all the chocolate hearts :) x x x x

Phew, right, we might finally get a minute to update you on what we've been up to and some really exciting news for future plans......
Well, the shop has now had a full refurb to make room for all the cake orders so we've all now got some space to work (or that's the plan at least!!). Our amazing photography friend Pete Slaney is coming over next week to take some pics so we'll post them soon. We've still got finishing touches to add to the shop but we've now got a full counter to house all our cupcakes, cakepops, chocolate truffles, mediants, and some of the crazy chocolate treats we do (this week it's chocolate popping candy acorns!) so that's a start at least!
As far as cakes go we've had hundreds including a 7ft gypsy wedding cake, a bespoke wedding cake designed around some very cool stationery, horror castles, witches, a very gothic wedding cake that oozed blood (actually raspberry coulis!!) when it was cut and a whole host of other things.

And then....... (drum roll please.....) we are opening a fabulous new cake parlour at Olivia's Bridal Boutique on Shambles Street in Barnsley. It will be open from Saturday 3rd December and will stock all our much loved cupcakes, pastries, cakepops, chocolate treats etc that you can either buy to take away or sit down with a posh cup of coffee or our to die for continental hot chocolate and enjoy the sugar rush in the lovely surroundings of the parlour. We are so excited about this! The cake design studio will stay in our current premises but the cake parlour will allow more people to enjoy our sweet delights (as we know, our cake design studio is a little off the beaten track!) We'll be posting pics on here of our progress with the parlour so please check back to find out more!
And finally...... (sorry - we should update our blog more often then we wouldn't have so much to tell you all at once!!).... we've been shortlisted for the Wedding Cake Designer of the Year award from the Wedding Industry Awards. Thank you so so much to all our past clients who took the time to vote for us and give their comments. We have tried our hardest to make every cake we send out the best cake we've ever made and to be something that you are as proud to show off to your guests as we are to create it. It's took a long long time to get here and we thank every single one of our clients, past and present for supporting us all the way. Thank you <3 x

Most of the images on our website have been captured by Pete Slaney of Photography Zero Eight.
His wedding photography is truly unique and beautiful. Oh, and nationally recognised. Take a look at Photography Zero Eight's offer.
As you may have seen on Pete's website, there are four dates in January where you get a full day of photography service for £500.
Call Photography Zero Eight, ask for Pete Slaney, and be prepared to talk to someone as enthusiastic and passionate about photography as we are about cakes. The number to call is 07828884788.

Well, that was a busy day. We haven't had the actual figures back from I Do magazine's team on the number of people seen, but just on the documentation we distributed, 642 of our leaflets were picked up.
So, A big thank you to everyone who complimented us on our cakes. We try really hard to give customers an alternative to, well, you've heard us bang on about it... Pictures to follow of our cakes, we'll let you know when our gallery is updated.
Actually I should also thank those who didn't compliment us on our cakes. Even negative feedback is useful. So any comments are happily received, both at the time, and to this blog.
Ok, seeing as you stuck with it, here's a glimpse of our stand...

We received an enquiry for a wedding cake today, which was much appreciated, but that wasn't the surprising bit. In the customer's email, they mentioned that ''You've received some good reviews on Sheffield Forum...'' so we did some investigating i.e. googling.
Here's what we discovered:
My Wedding Recommendations and Rants
Some of the best cakes I've ever tasted
Tasting before booking!
Wedding Cake Ideas
So a big thank you from, after doing a little digging, Emma and Dave, who got married at Hargate Hall earlier this year, and to those anonymous writers, who all felt we'd done ok!
